Mechanism of action of Escitalopram

The following medications should not be used with Escitaloprám:

• Irreversible nonselective MAO inhibitors.
• Reversible selective MAOA inhibitors (moclobemide).
• Reversible nonselective MAOIs (linezolid).
• Irreversible selective MAO-B inhibitors (selegiline).
• Drugs that prolong the QT interval.
• The following combinations require precautions:
• Serotonergic drugs (e.g., tramadol, sumatriptan, and other triptans); serotonin syndrome is possible.

Alcohol

Drugs that cause hypokalemia/hypomagnesemia - increased risk of malignant arrhythmias.
